How to Give Your Health a Jump-Start By Cleansing

NORWALK, Conn. (WTNH) - If you're feeling a little sluggish and want to give your health a jump-start, Lisa Lynn of LynFit Nutrition says cleansing is a great way to do that.

"Cleansing is the number one most important thing you can do for your wellness," Lynn said.

Cleansing is a regular part of her life and she has a few tips to be successful.

"One is I don't eat between the hours of 7pm -- I try not to -- until about 9 or 10 am," Lynn explained. "Now that's a little longer than a 12 hour fast, but it's one of the best things you can do to kill hunger and cravings, lower blood sugar, decrease cholesterol."

When it comes to what you should eat, natural foods are key, except for kale.

"Everybody runs to kale but the reality is you should probably try to avoid it because it slows our thyroid help," Lynn said.

Instead, reach for leafy greens.

"And aim for baby mixes because they're fresher more pure and they have more nutrition," Lynn said.

One of the best fruits to eat during a cleanse is citrus, according to Lynn.

"Because grapefruits naturally cleanse the liver," she explained. "[It] literally acts like sandpaper and helps it break down."
